Lack of Rates Information a Concern

Commercial rates lack sufficient transparency, according to Kildare Councillor, Tony O’Donnell.

Cllr. O’Donnell was responding to a Kildare County Council report on a motion he tabled at October’s meeting of KCC.

Cllr. O’Donnell’s motion requested periodic reports on the re-rating of commercial premises in each local area. These reports were to include information on the number of re-ratings; [...]

It is not unreasonable that those who [...]

The Garda payroll system is applying the new income levies unfairly, according to local Fine Gael candidate Tony O’Donnell.

The mid-Kildare area is home to a large number of serving Garda personnel that are based in the county, as well as in Dublin and surrounding Garda Divisions. These officers are now committing approximately 16% of their salaries in pension contributions, [...]

Serious questions about fitness for office (Irish Independent Letters Page 13/02/09)

Minister Lenihan’s admission that he didn’t read the PwC report on Anglo raises serious questions about his fitness for office. As a Senior Counsel, would Mr Lenihan have failed to read his brief before entering the courtroom – especially if the case was the biggest of his career? Could an engineer watch a bridge collapse, and then [...]

If media reports are to be believed, today’s cabinet meeting will approve a €7 billion recapitalisation of AIB and Bank of Ireland. This increased value scheme is a response to the inability of the two main banks to raise matching funds for the previous bailout plan, and to the ongoing contraction in lending.

Fine Gael are proposing [...]
