At yesterday’s full Council meeting, we approved an amended traffic management plan (TMP) for Kildare Town. The plan was originally put on public display in the summer of 2008, and at the time I submitted a detailed response as part of the public consultation. My particular issues then were around the terms of reference, the effect on [...] Iarnród Éireann has abandoned plans to release a new train timetable, according to local councillor Tony O’Donnell. The company had intended to introduce a new timetable on September 27th, but that has been deferred indefinitely. “In recent weeks the various local commuter groups have been meeting with Iarnród Éireann officials in order to plan the new timetable. Introduction I submit the following document for the consideration of Kildare County Council and the Kildare Local Area Committee in response to the draft Kildare Town Traffic Management Scheme. In it I present an overall response to the vision outlined in the document, and also feedback [...] Minister Noel Dempsey yesterday published a bill establishing the Dublin Transport Authority. The DTA is a very sensible and positive step towards proper strategic planning for transport in the greater Dublin area. However, commuter groups will rightly feel a certain sense of deja vu over the announcement, as Martin Cullen already launched the DTA [...] Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey TD, has today (Monday April 14) published the Dublin Transport Authority Bill 2008.
